Roofing works

When is it time to renovate my roof?

Your roof may need renovation if it is more than 25 to 30 years old, if you are experiencing moisture problems in your home, if your energy bills have increased significantly, or if there is visible damage to the roof tiles or roofing. Not sure? Request a free on-site inspection, and one of our advisors will assess the condition of your roof.

Can I choose the roof tiles I want?

Yes, Faccader offers a wide range of roof tiles in various styles and colours. You can also choose between natural slate and synthetic slate. Our advisor will show you the available options during the on-site visit, and you can also view them in our 500 m² showroom in Willebroek.

What if my roof contains asbest?

Faccader has the required certifications to remove asbest safely and professionally, in full compliance with Flemish regulations. We take care of the entire process and ensure the asbest is removed before the renovation work begins.

What is the difference between roofing felt and EPDM?

EPDM is a synthetic rubber membrane installed seamlessly, with a lifespan of more than 50 years. Roofing felt is a multi-layer bitumen system with a lifespan of around 25 to 30 years and can be repaired locally if needed. EPDM is the premium choice for durability, green roofs and solar panels, while roofing felt is a reliable and more budget-friendly option. Our advisors will help you choose the solution that best suits your needs and budget.

Do I need a permit for a sarking roof?

From 1 March 2026, you no longer need planning permission for external roof insulation, provided that the total thickness of the insulation and roofing does not exceed 26 cm and the roof edge is not significantly altered.

Façade works

Why should I choose façade insulation?

Façade insulation helps lower your energy bills, improves living comfort and provides long-lasting protection for your home. It also gives your façade a completely new appearance with a finish in render, brick slips or spray cork. In addition, it increases the value of your property and may qualify you for attractive grants in many cases.

How long does an insulation project take?

The duration of an insulation project depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the type of insulation and the weather conditions. On average, a facade insulation project for a single-family home takes a few weeks. During a free consultation, we assess your specific situation and provide you with a realistic timeline. We work efficiently and professionally so you can enjoy a better-insulated home as quickly as possible.

Do you need a permit for a facade renovation?

In most cases, no planning permission is required for external facade insulation in Flanders. However, for properties located in protected areas or when significant changes are made to the appearance of the facade, a notification or planning permission may be required. Faccader will guide you through the administrative process and advise you during the site visit.

Would you like to read the official regulations? Visit the Flemish Government website for more information about permits and legislation.

Is facade insulation suitable for my type of home?

External facade insulation is suitable for almost all types of homes, including detached, semi-detached and terraced houses, as well as apartment buildings. The only requirement is a stable and solid surface. One of our building advisors will assess this during a free on-site visit.

How much can I save on my energy bill after insulating my facade?

The savings from facade insulation depend on several factors, including the insulation performance of the chosen material, the size of your facade and your household’s energy consumption. On average, facade insulation can reduce energy costs by 20% to 40%. You’ll notice the difference on your energy bills while also enjoying a more comfortable home.

How much does facade renovation cost per m²?

The cost of a facade renovation with insulation and a render finish typically ranges from €90 to €130 per m², depending on the insulation thickness, the chosen finish and the accessibility of the facade. At Faccader, you always receive a fixed price: the price in your quotation is the price you pay.

How thick is crepi: from millimetres to centimetres?

The crepi itself is only a few millimetres thick, typically 1 to 3 mm. The overall thickness of the facade is mainly determined by the insulation layer, which can range from a few centimetres up to 14 cm, depending on your home’s insulation requirements.

How easy is it to maintain a rendered facade?

Render is very low maintenance. The synthetic render used by Faccader is water-repellent, dirt-resistant and self-cleaning. If any dirt does appear, it can easily be cleaned with water and a mild detergent.
